Happy Thursday family… I realize I went missing again! I had so much going on locally and a last minute traveling plan, that I really couldn’t commit to posting earlier this week. Talking about traveling- Ms. Riri and I made a ninth hour plan to go to NY to spend the President’s Day long weekend with them. We took the bus to NY and Ms. Riri was thrilled as it was her first bus ride. We were worried about her motion sickness but the medicine really came in handy.
We were in NY for a couple nights and we made the best of our time there! From going to an Escape room to Museum of ice cream, to the most-coveted bar Magic Hour NY and some local hotspots in-between, we were on the roll through out. The highlight of the trip was the Artichoke Pizza from Artichoke Basille’s Pizza. It was the best, most cheesiest and yummiest pizza I’ve ever had. If you ever happen to be in NY, you gotta visit one of their several locations.

Now let’s shift the spotlight to my outfit. I bought that Shacket ( shirt + jacket ) late last year and it’s debut on the blog was long due. It’s one of those spring outerwears that ain’t that thick but still serves the purpose of keeping you warm. I chose this longer hemline but there are shorter styles too and I equally love them all. Check out some of my shacket picks below.
In case you haven’t noticed, I would like to direct your attention to my mighty platform loafers. This trend was huge in Q4 of 2021 and it continues to be every fashionista’s sweetheart this year too. Owing to its chunkiness, I was on the fence about these loafer style. The heavier look could have made my skinny legs look even more weird, but pairing it with long, wide leg jeans toned down the chunkiness of the shoes.
Coming back to NY and the Museum Of Ice cream especially- I would have to post a disclaimer here. ” Do not bring your kids to MOIC when you are in NY 😉 ” . Think unlimited ice cream, desserts and over-hyper kids. The sugar rush is real and there is madness everywhere. But, no matter what- it is a fun experience with ample photo-ops and both kids and adults LOVE IT!
If you aren’t following me on Instagram, then possibly you might be missing the BTS, exclusive content, and styling REELS that I share only on Insta. I have been positing series like ” REINVENT YOUR CLOSET “, ” 10 BEST OF DC”, and so on so forth. It has been a fun journey there and I would love for you to be a part of it.
I am turning the big forty in a few months and I have been having such random thoughts about this milestone. I understand it’s just a number but I am having a major midlife crisis and getting cold feet about entering this new decade of my life. What to expect both health and life wise has been troubling me so much. I am mentally preparing myself for this transition but I know it ain’t going to be easy- given how sensitive I am!
Another random thing bothering me… my iPhone is due for an upgrade next month. Not that I need to, but it’s the camera feature in iPhone 13 that has my heart. Does one feature make the case for a splurge when your current phone is well kept and hasn’t been utilized to its fullest? I am contemplating….what do you think?
Mask mandates are starting to ease in our region and I have totally mixed feelings about it. On one hand it feels like the world is returning to normal but on the other- it scares me to go without a mask. I am sure the transition ain’t going to be easy, given the history of random variants we had in the last two years. For now ‘ the mask is a keeper’. I’ve worn it for two years, another couple mon the won’t hurt!

I absolutely adore every bit of this outfit! You look fabulously cool and chic. It sounds like you had some wonderful NY experiences! As for turning 40, I will tell you this…I will be 48 in a few months and my 40s have been the absolute best decade of my life so far. I am looking forward to what my 50s bring me. I hope that helps you a little to embrace this fabulous decade of life! We just keep getting better with age like fine wine!
