“Eat like you love yourself. Move like you love yourself. Speak like you love yourself. Act like you love yourself and dress like you love yourself.” The more love you show yourself, the more love you get from yourself.
In no way am I trying to advocate selfism but self-love is very important! The way you love yourself sets the tone for every other relationship you have. The more loved, cared-for and secured you’ll feel, the more love, care and security you’ll be able to give. I have been and plan to propagate self-love throughout February. Big or small, day or night, find what makes you happy, what keeps you motivated and what celebrates you everyday.

Self-love has no boundaries, it is a very personal thing. Little things like a hot oil-message, ten pages of uninterrupted reading, ordering Chinese take-out on a weekday night, anything that makes you feel rested is self-love. To me self-love is smelling pretty flowers or just wearing it on my head, wearing a bright flowy maxi dress, and being my own Valentine.
It might feel selfish especially when you have gazillion things on your list as a mom, as a wife. And..there is no denying that that this feeling is legitimate! When you have so many roles to play, a little pressure is justifiable. But remember that “being a role-model is tough but not impossible. ” You don’t need to be a perfectionist, just a little control of yourself and your action, a little love for yourself and everything falls in place.
If shutting down the system called ‘HOME‘ for a day or two was an option, I would have leapt for it, but sadly it doesn’t work like that. Self-love doesn’t mean running away from your daily duties and responsibilities. Just an open mind, a more liberal-towards-self-perspective, a let-go attitude- all is okay for a day. Below are some of ways you could treat yourself on your day off.
- Forget about being the ring master. Let your better half hold the fort for a day and you relax!
- Give your body the rest it needs. Take an afternoon nap or binge watch your favoring show. It is all allowed when dating yourself. And don’t forget the wine.
- Go shopping or on a lunch date/park picnic with your girlfriends.
- Book a facial or body massage.
- Take that yoga/exercise trial class you had been wanting to do for a long time.
- Call for deep cleaning service and give yourself that break.
- If theaters are your jam, go watch a movie or a show by yourself if not with anyone.
- Book yourself a Boudoir photoshoot if you are comfortable enough. It is a bit daring but do it if it makes you feel good about yourself, your body.
- If not the above then book yourself the dreamy photoshoot your heart had been desiring. I never did an engagement photoshoot before my wedding, so I did this one that you see today. I did it coz I wanted to do it!
- Give yourself a digital detox. Hide your phone somewhere, leave it behind when stepping out for a shorter time, your brain needs that break.
