I have been on a traditional clothing high- blame it on the array of festivities and the couple Indian weddings coming up. August marks the onset of Indian festivals. Diwali, Navratri, Teej, Karvachauth, Ganpati and the festivities go on till November.
I did an unannounced part 1 in the “Indian retailers I shop” series, check it out HERE. As I continue to explore more e-commerce Indian retailers that ship to US, it would have made total sense to do part II in that series. So, I went ahead a created another list of some e-commerce stores that specialize in traditional and fusion clothing and that ship Worldwide sans obnoxious shipping charges.
All the tabs below are clickable and will redirect you to the retailer’s website. I’ve done the groundwork for you, you just gotta click and shop.
On a side note my outfit was a random purchase that seems ideal for today’s TEEJ celebrations. TEEJ is widely celebrated by women across India. It is an Indian festival wherein married women fast and pray for the health and well-being of their husbands. I don’t fast anymore but I still and will always pray for the well-being of my near and dear ones.
Aashni + Co. is a platform for luxury ethnic wear. It’s like a marketplace for all high-end to mid-end Indian designers. They have products ranging from $20 to $6k. Their shipping is free if you spend over $250 and takes around 4-6 weeks depending on your order type. If you order ready-to-wear, shipping is faster, otherwise it takes longer for custom-made pieces.
Handloom, linen, khadi, raw silk, all the indigenous fabrics apparel can be shopped here. Not only traditional, Loom can be your go-to store for fusion, dresses, kidswear, menswear and accessories too. Shipping is free over $100. The delivery time can range anywhere between 1 week to 2 weeks.
This one is definitely more high-end. With clothing and jewelry in the $$$ price range, I would suggest checking them out only if you have the budget for a splurge. Every piece will blow your socks off and the price tag will blow your wallet off! They offer free shipping over $200 which apparently seems to be the industry cutoff.
Besides these, listed below are some individual designers that I would recommend. Most of these designers make affordable timeless pieces.
