Confession 101 – I ain’t fully stocked up sartorially yet and spring is almost halfway through. I don’t have proper blouses, pants, and above all summer open-toe shoes. I’m still swaying between winter and spring closet- blame it on the capricious weather we are experiencing. One day it is hot like peak summer and the next day there is hail, wind and chill.
Summer is already starting to look brighter. Vaccination and the stimulus check seems to have given a mood boost in general. Folks are now shopping for both essential and non-essential items, clothing and jewelry included. So, while this Mama tries to knock items off her spring shopping list, here are a few things I would suggest adding to your spring closet.
Outfit details
- Short suit- ANN TAYLOR
- Eyelet blouse- LOFT
- Heels- STEVE MADDEN VALA S PUMPS
- Bag- ZARA
1) ESPADRILLES – a comfy pair of espadrilles in a fun print that goes with anything and everything is just what our feet need this spring. I personally love an open-toe one either with an ankle strap or lace-tie like this, this and this.
2) TIE BACK anything– summer is the time when you can go wild with little details and add-ons on your clothing for instance tie-backs and plunging backs. I wore this dress on my Instagram and it went viral. I had so many folks ask for direct shopping links. It is one of those dresses where you don’t have to worry about your bra showing. I wore my regular brand and it worked perfectly.
3) EYELET– eyelet is THE summer fabric. Go full-on eyelet or pieces with subtle eyelet details like this one, one must have this fabric in their spring-summer wardrobe. It is lightweight, airy with its perforated design and pretty at the same time.Love this eyelet short suit set from Zara and this skirt-top set from LOFT.
4) SEPARATES/MATCHING SETS – coordinate set ( basically a matching top and bottom separates) is the one type of set that I just can’t get enough of. I love the ease of it- no brainstorming required. Wear it as a set or split to match with other pieces- it is so effortless!
Warmer weather calls for matching top-skirt set but if you are feeling a bit dressy go for this shorts suit set.
5) QUIRKY EARRINGS– the most effective way to jazz up any look. This is the time to step up your accessory game, not just any earrings- quirky earrings is the way to go. Think fruits, bugs, butterflies, geometric shapes, rainbow colors, this spring is all about character and drama when talking about earrings.
6) MATTE EYESHADOWS – summer is all about dewy/fresh makeup. It’s time to go lightheaded on foundation, eyeshadows and lipsticks. I’m particularly loving the single shadow sweep look. It is easy, fresh and a change from the heavy, darker looks which I wear a lot in winter.
These days I would either wear a solid matte color like I’m wearing a shade of orange in the pictures OR skip it overall and go for the eyeliner straight. Check out this palette in case you are in for brighter eye shadow hues.
