2020 is coming to an end and it’s now officially safe to see that none of us are particularly sad seeing it go. While the celebrations might not be as lively, good news is that it hasn’t been canceled. Another good news- shoes are optional, cuz who cares what you are wearing on your toes when the screen just shows your head when zooming….
Anyways, I didn’t really feel ethical and human pushing all the holiday sales and gift guides when so many are sailing the rough waters. Plus there are so many gift guides out there, I wanted to give your sore eyes a relief by not sharing any on my blog. Occasionally, I have been sharing gift ideas on my Instagram, but nothing major.

We all have mixed emotions about the pandemic holidays but one thing I’m pretty sure is that Shiohare family is having a party and partaking most of the holiday celebrations and you all are invited ( zoom links shall be sent out soon ), and here’s my plea as to why you should try and partake all festivities.
I) Times have been tough and I hear ya, but a healthy family and all the cherishable pandemic moments spend with them has been the silver lining with this pandemic and it should definitely be celebrated. The pandemic is not over yet, but a horrid year is almost over and it needs a farewell party. Having survived all the hardships, the isolation woes and all the stress and trauma that came uninvited definitely calls for a celebration. I am proud of myself for protecting myself, my family and their health and I am going to celebrate that.
II) While the festivities are not as lively, good news- they haven’t been canceled! Supposedly, it is the mellowed down version of previous year’s celebrations. I was at the mall the other day and it was so good to see the hustle-bustle and the energy of the holiday-shoppers. There were more people than usual, shopping, maintaining social distance, and waiting in lines for their turn to enter the store. The energy was phenomenal and that gave me hope- that all will be well soon! So, lets keep that spirit high and bring in the new year and all the interim festivities with as much positivity and zeal as we can.
III) This is the first and probably the last pandemic for almost everyone living on this planet. While not a pleasant one, it has been a learning one. We all came through, we stepped forward to help, we joined hands to fight back and our younger ones have shown their biggest support through this journey. They have proven that they are resilient, they are strong, and can face any challenge if they have the right guidance. This is commendable and they certainly deserve the token of appreciation for their perseverance and support. Nothing big but a way to say- “we love you, we cherish you and we need you.” So put on your happy face for them- they deserve it.
IV) Zoom is the new way of life. Not only zoom but there are so many other apps that help you stay connected with your near and far ones. So while technology has been a boon in this pandemic, we should continue making the most of it and celebrate little things with our friends and family as and when we can. I don’t remember the last time I was with my family during the holidays but with everyone being home now, I’ll be celebrating the holidays with them. Even though virtual, it would still mean the world to me.
V) Our loungewear deserve a break. Most of us, myself excluded, have been living in our pjs for the last ten months. While comfy and ‘I don’t care’ has become the new sartorial mantra, for the sake of all the shopping we have done this year, we should make an effort to dress up whenever possible. All that we shopped in these past few months deserve to see the light and the loungewear that our family is bored of seeing us in deserves to hibernate. So put on your party shoes and bring on the fun….
