This past week was a rollercoaster of emotions, anxiety and restlessness. It wasn’t just me awaiting the election results anxiously, our entire nation was put to unrest with the ballot counting delays. I wouldn’t have cared much had I not voted, but since it was hubs and mine’s first time voting as an American citizen- the results were really a big deal.
In fact it was my first time ever when I voted. Back in India I never went to cast my vote, mainly cuz there was no elections when I turned the legal voting age and when there was one, I had already relocated to the US. So, this time I had to cast my vote, a drop in the ocean but every vote counts…right?

Now that the results are out and people have chosen their representative, it is so liberating and exhilarating. Having a woman of color as the first female US Vice President ever, gives us so much hope and joy. It will certainly open doors for more female leadership and pave way for a better future for our children. I am so happy America voted ( 74 million votes is something ), I voted and together we made every vote count. It was an unbeatable victory for our President elect and I can’t wait to see what the new Government has to bring to the table.
It was such a celebratory environment here in DC. People gathered downtown DC to express their excitement for the new Government. I am glad these possessions were peaceful, violence-free and the warmer weather made these celebrations all the more joyous for people.
While the nation celebrated the victory of the deserving party, I was inside my house decluttering, and doing the customary Diwali cleaning. It is an Indian thing to clean the house thoroughly before Diwali, which happens to be next Saturday. I am done doing my part, the remaining will be taken care by my cleaning lady.
Every Diwali we would wear new traditional clothing that I would pick out in India the summer prior to Diwali, but this year as we did not travel- – I had my outfit shipped all the way from India. Umrao Boutique from Patiala humbly agreed to custom make Riri’s and my Diwali outfit and it is gorgeous. Can’t wait to show you more.
Talking about Diwali, I was invited by Aldo Shoes to partake in their Diwali collaboration and I have been on cloud nine ever since. It was my dream to work with Aldo Shoes ( one of my favorite shoe brands ) and my dream came true this year. I partnered with them earlier this year during NYFW and I’m partnering again this year to showcase some festive pieces from their new lineup. So, stay tuned!!
As you all know, Riri was attending school in-person. It was going all good but given the hike in the cases, we were getting weary about sending her to school. But as if God heard my prayers, over the weekend her school announced going back to their virtual learning model. They will continue virtual learning for entire school until December 5th and based on the situation then- they would decided their next move. Honestly, it was a relief.
