We are no stranger to the woes that cooler weather could bring with it, and this year it is going to be even harder. With folks already gearing up to hunker down again, probably jeans and thick knits or just a thick knit loungewear will become everyone’s everyday uniform….I don’t blame no one but wouldn’t it be BORING??
But, if you are a fashion maven, then you would have definitely figured out a way by now to dress up in extreme weather ( whenever going out ), without any compromise on STYLE! It’s the easiest, most fail-proof way to feeling good and I am no exclusion to either. So, today I will be sharing some ways you can break the cooler weather sartorial boredom….
THINK PRINTS: well-well, talk to me about prints and I could sing my own PRINT saga, but for now: let’s just keep it to the outfit. Prints are a great way to jazz things up. Think printed sweaters, printed blouses, printed shoes, printed knit scarves or even a printed trench ( jacket ) like mine, which is relatively warm and stylish at the same time.

ADD TEXTURES: when I say textures, I mean fur, leather, quilt, wool, anything that makes your outfit anything boring is welcomed. Inadvertently, I am donning yet another trend that is huge this fall/winter and that would be leather. A leather trench in a fierce print is just what you need to amp up that style metric.
PLAY WITH COLORS: need I say that ” nothing breaks you free of a fashion rut better than COLORS.” I am a self-proclaimed color-mixing and print-mixing pro and I find joy in doing it- all year round! Consider colored accessories, shoes, boots, handbags, and tights. Colored tights effortlessly add that punch of color to any boring winter outfit. Overcoats/ sweaters in vibrant colors are another great way to break up the cooler weather sartorial boredom. Go monochromatic, or try color-blocking: make your outfit everything but blah.
ADD FUN DETAILS: one of the easiest ways to make any look pop is to add eye-catching details. Ruffles ( yes sweaters with ruffles is a thing ), embroidery, embellishments are such great enhancers. They instantly take anything up a notch. I like to elevate my simple sweaters, coats, hats, and scarves with accessories like brooches and quirky pins. It would be an understatement if I said I am a brooch-addict. I have quite a collection of brooches, just need to add this baby to my collection to complete my little brooch family.
THINK OUT OF THE BOX: everyone wears a winter hat or a cap, but seldom do people try new hat trends. For instance berets have been a huge trend for a few years now and I am embracing it to the max. I had them in black, animal print, tan, and mustard; this year I added this baby blue one too. Initially I was reluctant to even trying this trend, but after spotting it on my favorite influencers, I caved in and now ‘I am obsessed’! Fur earmuffs are also a great way to shake things up. When in the market for an ear muff, try and stray away from blacks and grays and try out a mint or even a blush one instead. It won’t hurt and won’t disappoint either!
