Oh, how much I love long weekends! The week is short, work days are shorter and the weekend comes in a flash. It was a National Holiday this past Monday and I’m loving that its almost Friday eve.
While Monday was a holiday, the schools reopened here in Maryland starting Tuesday. Riri’s school reopened for distance learning last week, the county schools reopened this week. Most of the schools are considering implementing the hybrid model starting October, wherein only fifty percent of the students will be attended school while the remaining fifty will be partaking in virtual learning. The two groups will alternate between in-person learning and virtual learning, which will give each student a chance to attend school. While this will be a test run, I am very wary sending Riri to school for any sort of in-person learning.

Come on, how can I send my kiddo to a place what I consider an equivalent of war zone. When I am mentally and physically not ready to be in an enclosed space for prolonged hours, how can I send my child to an enclosed space that has it’s own unpredictable health perils! Well, this is just my personal opinion and husband agrees too. By no means do I wish to impose my opinion on anyone. I totally get it that there are parents who don’t have a choice but to send their kids to school, but think about it- this pandemic is just temporary, it will end, it is going to be hard for a few months, but a little perseverance on your part now will leave no room of regret in the future…. think again!!!
Changing gears, let’s talk about that hair of mine, which of late has been acting so temperamental. I curled my hair the night before this shoot hoping to have the perfect waves the next morning and what was that- unruly mess!!! Thanks to the humidity that has been on the rise too.
On a side note- please disregard the little shiny patch on my right cheek. I guess I went heavy-handed on the highlighter and missed on blending it well. Plus the sun highlighted it even further. Please ignore!
Let’s also talk about that bag, rather that farzi ( Hindi word for FAKE ) bag. It’s actually a lipgloss case ( look closely in the first picture and you’ll see JUICY TUBES ) that I received as a gift from Lancome. I loved it so much and felt like a red bag was entirely befitting this outfit- hence I carried it like a bag. Now that’s what I called RECYCLING!
Back in June I shared a post listing five colors that were going to be hot this year and PINK was one of them, check out the post here. This proves ” I follow what I preach.” I bought this pant-set in a whim and sort of love it. It comes in a mint green option as well, shop it HERE.
The last time I was at Riri’s pediatrician, she suggested I spoke to Riri about puberty and periods. She recommended buying the American Girl Puberty book and I did, but truth be told- I am freaking out! Riri keeps reminding me every other day but I have been pushing back on reading that book to Riri. Call it my inhibition or awkwardness, this mommy really doesn’t know where to begin. How did you bring yourself to reading that book or talking about periods and puberty with your daughter? Please advice!
A little update on Maze- this guy weighs almost 22 lbs now. He has his own neighborhood fan club. He is jumpy and playful around older kids but gentle around little kids. All his shots are up to date so he is now allowed to mingle with other dogs and have doggy play dates too. You must watch him play with other dogs, sometimes I get scared he would hurt himself, but hubs says ‘ that’s how puppies play”. He has become a mama’s boy and loves jumping over on couches and beds- places in the house where he is not allowed.
