The weekend flew by in a whiz and as usual my to-do list remains pending. I got to call my insurance co. for some mix up they did with Riri’s medical insurance, I have to set up an appointment with my closet designer, my nails need to be filled-in, my hair needs a trimming and the list goes on. I am sure I am not the only one who makes a list and then makes another list with the previous to-do list on the top followed with the newest set of to-dos.
Anyways, one thing that I was able to accomplish was going to the temple. We had been meaning to go to the temple for a very long time, the last time I was there was on New Years day, but somehow it wasn’t falling in line with our schedule. While at the temple the management was handing out flyers for the temple’s 35th year celebration. One of the guys came to us and said they were organizing a few special ceremonies and everybody was invited. The purpose of doing this was to inculcate a sense of religion in our future generation. Well, that got me thinking if Kapil and I were being a responsible parent and doing our best to pass on our heritage and culture to Riri. We celebrate all major festivals, we pray and say our mantras every morning and at night, we take our daughter to India very often so that she is aware of her maternal and paternal history, we speak to her in hindi which she is fluent with and all that we can to keep the sense of religion and culture ignited in her. If any of the above counts towards us being responsible Indian parents, then do Kapil and I get any brownie points???

Sunday was a low-key day at home with me cooking up a storm and doing some major spring cleaning. It was an Indian festival a couple days ago and since it was a weekday I had to wait until this past Sunday to cook up some of the holi dishes my Mom made each year when we were young. While I was cooking, I had a moment where I thought to myself ‘ have we lost the essence of Indian festivals, is it merely about cooking and eating?’ Well, the truth is that when you are home away from home and it is freezing outside to do anything, cooking all the festival-specific food is the only way to bring back memories and preserve the enthusiasm of the festival. So, I prepared a few extra dishes and we had a food-tastic Holi celebration at home.
I have been on a shopping marathon and I couldn’t resist ordering this, this, this and this. How cute would be these shoes with this jumpsuit. Talking about which I am a sucker for jumpsuits, except for the bathroom woes, they are surely a one-piece wonder.
I was excited when I heard the news of Gymboree going out of business. It meant more shopping for Riri, but after a rampant shopping-haul, I got a tad bit sad cuz Gymboree was the only kids retailer that fit Riri. They offered sizing for skinny kids and my daughter was the perfect candidate for their skinny size-chart. You will be missed Gymboree.
I have been paying extra heed to skincare and for that matter I am loving this and this. The Glycolic night cream has been a game-changer. My skin feels smoother, softer, plumper and less pigmented. It has been a real struggle finding the right regimen for my skincare, but now I know what works the best. You should definitely consider investing in beautiful skin and give this skincare line a try.
Talking about my outfit a bit, I am loving the neon trend. It is definitely a bold color and might not be everyone ‘s forte, but you can take baby steps. This trend is not going anywhere for a few months so you have plenty of time on hand to try out this trend. For me ‘two is always better than one’, so I had to wear the neon pink sweater and neon green pumps. Honestly speaking, this outfit just happened and I kind of love the final look. Sometimes listening to your sartorial instincts pays off well. So, if you are feeling bold and adventurous, you have to buy a piece or two of neon something. How about this, this or this maybe??
