Welcome to Linda, our two day GETAWAY home away from home…..
MARCHESA NOTTE FLORAL GOWN Neiman marcus // HANNA ANDERSON mommy pajamas // HANNA ANDERSON kids pajamas
If you are a wife, a mom, a blogger, an entrepreneur and work multiple jobs, then you would probably relate to that feeling of ” I am always tired, buried under work and always dreaming of a vacation”. I feel like that everyday and when GETAWAY reached out to me for a weekend getaway, I took them up on their offer, without any first, second or third thought. I was ready for the weekend family escapade.
Just to familiarize you, Getaway is a cabin ( trailer turned cabin ) rental service: cabins that are fully equipped with bed, dining table, chairs, fridge, cooking stove, heater, air conditioner, has a lavatory and provisions for purchase. Call it a hotel sans room service, and one that is away from the city, nestled inside the forest with zero noise, expect for bird chirps during the day and cricket stridulations at night.
HOW IT WORKS
– Choose your Outpost, cabin size, and dates. There are currently three outposts: DC, Boston and New York. They’ll send you the exact address of your cabin upon booking.
– You’ll get an email and text with your cabin name and key code on the day of your travel. Their team will be available by email and text should you need anything.
– Unwind….Lock away your phone, connect with loved ones, and enjoy nature. You’ll have everything you need to truly relax.
THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN PACKING
With Getaway, you really need not pack too much. Just your essentials like clothing, toiletries, food items if you plan to cook, board-games and your camera. Your cabin has linens, throws and pillows for the bed, the bathroom has towels and hair care products, there a pack of cards and game idea books for your entertainment, the kitchenette is stocked with provisions like pasta, pasta sauce, soup, canned food, tea, coffee, salt, pepper, oil and utensils, and the outdoor has a fire pit with firewood, fuel and fire-starter.
OUR GETAWAY EXPERIENCE
DC was our outpost of choice. Housed in the small town of Stanardsville, about 150 miles from DC, our Getaway house was actually home away from home. Our cabin was called LINDA. We booked a two-nights stay: left early on Sunday and returned Tuesday afternoon. Sunday was the day we explored our cabin, took all these photos in our matching jimmies We cooked some ramen and prepared burgers for dinner inside as it rained that evening. It was so calm and peaceful that I slept around 8 and woke up at 8 the next morning. I can’t remember the last time I had the luxury of a twelve hours sleep. We started off slow, with tea, cereals and fruits for breakfast. We sat beside the big glass wall, basking in the sun and the view, and enjoying Riri’s constant chattering, that sounded like music to our ears. We barely get such leisure and this time we wanted to make the most if it. A forest bathing followed: not bathing in the forest in the literary sense, but strolling in the forest living up the fall foliage. Thereafter we drove out to the town to grab some lunch. We played some board and card games, soon after which we lit up the fire, grilled some patties, kebabs, frankies and called it a night with some Smores and fireworks. The weather was beyond amazing that evening: we sat for hours under the star-studded sky, just gazing and humming to the tunes of old bollywood songs. It was a perfect romantic night in the woods…..wink wink!
