Memorial day marks the unofficial start of summer, but the official start to wedding season. With colder temps now a thing of the past, weekend weddings and parties are soon to become your favorite party for the rest of the season. With that comes the arduous question of ” what to wear” ?? Well, it is always fun shopping for special occasions, but splurging on something you might just wear once or may be twice with a slight twist, doesn’t make sense to none.
A decade ago, had I been in India, a sari or a salwar-kurti (pants-tunic ) would have been my obvious choice for a wedding party, but today the Indian trousseau has broadened it’s sartorial boundaries and is no more limited to saris or lehngas- pretty dresses/gowns have now become a part of the Indian trousseau. Said that, this maxi dress that you see on me is perfect for an evening wedding. Be it by the beach or just an indoor ballroom affair, this dress will definitely make head turns. But wedding dresses are not the thing we would be talking about today- you guessed it right ” it’s the bra you need this wedding/summer season for all those deep front-back dresses, is what we would be talking about”.
It is still a taboo in the blogging world to talk about undergarments, but why should we shy-” it lays the foundation for a flawless outfit after all!“. An ill-fitting, wrong choice of a bra can ruin any outfit, no matter how well-fitting the outfit itself is. On an average, a woman owns 16 different bras in her closet, out of which just a few get used, either coz they don’t fit right or they are meant to be worn with a specific kind of outfit. We all including myself, are guilty of wearing the wrong size. Either my cup size was wrong or the band size was not right. Thanks to the team at Victoria Secret- I love their complimentary bra-fiiting service. I go there every few months to get myself measured and fitted. Most of the lingerie stores offer compliantly bra-fiitng services, so even if you are not buying anything, make sure you avail this complimentary service.
I went off on the tangent here, but we were talking about the one bra we all need in our closet this summer and it is the PLUNGE BACKLESS BRA. I call it the Mother of all bra’s.
- It has a plunge front neckline- good for the deep front, strapless dresses and tops.
- It is backless- good for all your deep back, backless dresses.
- It has a side silicon band- good for all those waist cutout dresses and tops.
- It sometimes comes with a shoulder strap option- good for all other dresses and tops.
If you are small busted, then you could probably get away with these, but if you are blessed with big girlies, then you need something to support them. This plunge backless bra hides under my dress , I had to do some adjusting, but once I slipped into the dress, it was comfortable and felt right. For this one in particular, I would suggest buying your regular cup size. It was humid the day I wore this dress, but luckily I had no issues with the bra slipping, as reviewed by other users. Overall a good inexpensive buy, that will last you for 25 uses- a total win-win in my closet!!!!
