Anyways, navigating your way around trends is not always a cake walk. Lot’s of fitting room runs with bag full of clothes, store-hopping, sites-surfing and multiple online-order-returns later, there is one thing you reasonably make peace with. Over years, I’ve chalked out my own plan for navigating trends. I won’t say the plan eliminates all the hassle, but undeniably minimizes your time and effort and surely maximizes your savings.
1) SHOP YOUR CLOSET FIRST– before jumping into shopping, do your research. Scour through your closet first. Trends tend to return every decade, so before heading out to your nearest store or hitting google search, shop your own closet. It could be a hit or a miss but is definitely FREE! You might already own something or a hand-me-down from your mom and her mom, that speaks the language of the trend.
4) NOT EVERY TREND IS FOR EVERYONE – don’t feel disheartened, if you are unable to find anything worthy of bringing home. No offense to anyone, buy not every trend works on every body type or with every personality. For instance, the slip dress trend: it just didn’t work for me. I tried so many dresses, but there was something always off. I guess it was my tummy area that came in the way of making slip dresses work for me. But I didn’t give up, I tried and embraced another trend that worked for me…..HELLO RUFFLES !!!!
