A resort city along New Jersey’s Atlantic Coast, Atlantic City is known for it’s lavish casinos, many beaches and the iconic boardwalk. In case you did not know, Atlantic city was once home to the famous, glitzy Taj Mahal casino. Infamously called Las Vegas of East Coast, Atlantic city is a major hub for promoting New Jersey tourism. With it’s fine casinos and ever-so-crowded boardwalk, Atlantic city is definitely a tourist’s paradise. I have been to Atlantic City a few times and every time I am there, there is whole new persona that shines through.
There is so much to do in this resort city, that even a week might fall short. Today I am sharing the top five things you should do, in order to maximize your stay in Atlantic city ….
1) CASINOS– Needless to say, casinos are the greatest draws of Atlantic City. Once home to 12 casinos, Atlantic city today takes pride in the seven, still standing tall. The 2012 recession hit the casino business big time, forcing five including Taj Mahal to shut down for good. Today, the most famous casinos are Bally’s, Caesars, Harrah’s and Borgata. For all you 21+, folks out there, try a hand at the penny slots for some extra bucks and if you are feeling too lucky then take a seat at the high-stakes poker tables, to win big. If gambling is not your jam, then swing by just to enjoy the magnificence and interiors. Remember- NO PICTURES PLEASE !!! PHOTOGRAPHY IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED !!!
2) BOARDWALK– the iconic boardwalk is another beach attraction in Atlantic City. Hustling and bustling with people, primarily tourists, this happens to be the most sought after family attraction in AC. Just stroll along the boardwalk overlooking the beach, or simply enjoy little boutique stores and confectioners dotting the boardwalk, there is plenty to do here. Restaurants, theaters, live entertainers, shows, pedicabs…..whatever happens here….stays here!
3) BEACH – summer time definitely calls for a soak in the sun, sea and sand. With restaurants, eateries, shopping, all walking distance from the beach, there is all one could ask for. Bring a family picnic or just your sporty side for some fishing, surfing, parasailing, fun comes free. Beach Haven, Ocean City beach, Cape May beach, Brigantine beach and Seven Mile Beach are some of the most-vistited beaches in AC.
4) SHOPPING – good news for all you shoppers, AC is now home to the famous Tanger Factory Outlets. Got extra bucks from your casino win??? – time to put that to some self- pampering use. Spread across a few blocks, walking distance from the beach, some of the popular factory stores like that of Banana Republic, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Nautica are always crowded with shoppers. With prices mostly 70% off retail prices, you definitely should swing by the outlets.
5) FOOD– what makes any trip memorable is the FOOD. No matter where you hail from, food is one language that connects everyone. With the countless dining options, choosing one restaurant can be overwhelming. Food along the boardwalk ranges from budget buffets, delicious down-home diners, and five-star restaurants featuring famous chefs like Bobby Flay, Gordon Ramsey and Guy Fieri to name a few. Sea food delicacies seem to be predominant on all the menus and why not, you are on the ocean front..?? My personal family friendly restaurant was the Rainforest cafe. As the name says it all, this rainforest themed restaurant is the perfect food getaway on an afternoon, when with family.
