Q: When/ how often do you shoot ?
A: I shoot once a week, usually on a Thursday or on a Friday afternoon, coz those are the days I have the flexibility to work from home. There are times when a campaign demands shooting during the first half of the week, then it is me, my office bag and a big photo shoot bag.
Q: How many outfits do you normally shoot in one go ?
A: I would target for four, at least, but trust me this entire changing outfit business is exhausting. So for the sake of sanity, I shoot three outfits in a day, which could take me anywhere between take 1.5-2.5 hours.
Q: Where do you click your pictures ?
A: I am a city girl and so I like my pictures with city backdrops, buildings, fountain and less greenery. Scouting locations can be a challenge, which all depends on what colors you are wearing, what time of the day you are shooting, what weather conditions are you shooting under, the crowd situation and all. My favorite place to shoot is Downtown DC as the magnificent historical buildings and museums there make for great picture backdrops.
Q: Which camera do you use?
A : I use Canon Rebel T3i, with a 18-55mm f3.5 standard lens. This lens came with the camera and is the best if your testing the waters. I have been looking to upgrade the lens, but not sure whether I should get the 50mm f1.8 or 50mm f1.4 lens, any recommendation ?
Q: Who takes your pictures ?
A: Earlier it was me, my tripod and my remote but now it is my blogger friend who takes my picture. We have a mutual arrangement: she clicks mine and I take hers. We both have the same camera, which make the manuevering super easy. For some of my paid campaigns, I would bring my photog friend, a professional photographer, into picture.
Q: Where do you change your outfits ?
A: Might sound obnoxious, but my car is my mobile vanity. If not in my office bathroom, then it is definitely the car. The back seat is the hot seat and the messiest area by the time I am done with the shoot. Glad my car has all black screens- whomp whomp !
Q: Is the whole process easy or tough ?
A: It is definitely not a cake walk, but it ain’t that bad either. It does take a lot of planning, coordination, texting with my friend, camera configuration, editing, writing and posting, but when you love doing something, you enjoy the process. Blogging is my passion and no matter how crazy my days are, there is always time for blogging.
