If you’ve known me well and for long, you would know by now that I am a ‘girl of mattes and dark lips. ‘ I swear by my mattes and bolder lip hues. As much as I love donning a bright bold lip, it involves quite a few steps to achieve that perfect pout each time. A little heed goes a long way in keeping your lipstick put and perfect.
Today I am sharing two shades of lipstick: one light and the other tad bit darker, well actually quite a bit darker. Sometimes layering lip shades gives spectacular results. So don’t be afraid, give it a try…
Keep reading for my step by step guide to achieving that perfect pout everyday!
The key to a long lasting lipstick lies in the foundation. A well exfoliated lip provides the ideal canvas for painting it your favorite color. I usually make a home scrub with equal parts sugar and salt and gently scrub my lip with the same.
Just the way your makeup needs priming, your lipstick needs a primer too. I would essentially use a little of my foundation as a lip primer. Not only does this mattify the lips, but also minimizes the look of my lip lines.
The next step is to frame and shape your lips. Some like to line their lips after applying the lipstick, but I personally think a liner is a must before anything goes on to your lips. Starting from the center follow the curvature of your lips. Shape it as you want. I like to follow my natural lips shape. The lip pencil that I have used here is 020 ( beige nude )
Now time to apply your lipstick. This one here is called HONEYCOMB .
Fill your lips starting with the upper lip. I like to draw a vertical line across the canter of the upper lip and then wing out from there, same with the lower lips. Two coat is good enough to give the desired depth.
Want the finish extra matte??? Try the dab and reapply technique. Use a cotton swab to wipe off any messes and voila!!!
Going from a lighter to a darker lip shade is just as easy. On multiple outfits photo session days, this layering technique makes the lip game all the more stronger. I just use a well-sharpened lip liner to frame the lip again. This time around I used shade no. 044 ( rich mahogany ) .
Take a matching lipstick ( WHISKEY in my case ) and sweep it across the lips. This time I would definitely use the dab and really technique as it helps to get rid of that extra lipstick pigment. Again use a cotton swab to wipe off any messes.
Now time to show off your masterpiece……..
