New year is the time when everyone wants to get organized and declutter. Be it your kitchen, kids toys, or even the garage mess, everything is under the purging radar. So when everything around your house is getting a facelift, why not your closet?? This is to time to let go things you have been holding onto for ages. After all it’s a new year, which means a new beginning and making more room for those holiday sale finds in your closet.
Nothing too drastic, just a few trends that in my view definitely need to be reconsidered.
WORN OUT UNDERGARMENTS
Let your basics take the lead in the to-be-tossed-out parade. Good undergarments lay the foundation for a polished look and boost self-confidence. So go forth and purge, let go off old pieces that fit no more, or are loose and have become worn out. Invest in good quality, right fitting undergarments that talk sexy and functional and you will thank yourself.
ANYTHING TOO SMALL
Emotional attachment to a piece of clothing, that is small and ill-fitting does no good no one, all it does is clutter your closet. Holding onto something with the unrealistic belief of fitting into it someday is doing injustice to both that piece of clothing, that might fit someone today, and to yourself too. Take heed, be brave and give out clothing that no longer fits you. Go shopping, take time to try on clothes and ask the store associate for help if you are unsure of anything. Investing in quality pieces today will go a long way….
SUPER SKINNY JEANS/JEGGINGS
Gone are the days for the plain-Jane super skinny jeans and leggings. They have had their fair share of fame, and anything that is beyond fame-exhaustion needs to go. It’s time to replace your skinnies with vintage-inspired wide legs, bell-bottoms and frayed/tassel hem skinny styles.
POM POM HEELS
Talk to me about letting go this trend, and I am heart-broken ….already ! Remember those cute fur balls/pom-poms atop your favorite sandals and pumps: yes chicas….it is time to bid them farewell! I know, a lot of you are dreading this, but it is what it is. This was meant to happen and we all would be mourning this burial. But sulk no more: pom pom heels are now being replaced by mules, statement flats, loafers and kitten hells. AHHHH… I am feeling a lot better…..already 
OFF THE SHOULDER EVERYTHING
Some you might have just jumped on the off-shoulder trend bandwagon, but sorry to say, you are fashionably late. This trend was huge last year and it tried to take over this year’s fashion scene as well, but bummer the statement sleeves won the race. This year is all about the over-the-top sleeves: talk about ruffled, layered, knotted and even one-shouldered. Can’t wait to stuff my closet with these closet-stuffers.
