I’ve debated at great length over the last couple of weeks whether or not ” I will continue to wear velvet after the festivities? ” The consensus: YES ……!
Velvet has come a long way from being the stereotypical grunge look. With so many improvised options and silhouettes, it now looks classy versus trashy- no offense to anyone. Velvet topped everyone’s covet list last year and continued to steal the limelight the entire holiday season. Now the big question arises is: “would you continue wearing it or ditch it??” My answer: “Yes I will, for as long as my sartorial aspirations keep me going. “
So today….drumroll please……
I present to you, these velvet culottes ….
1) velvet is a luxe fabric, and pairing it with a something casual like a chambray shirt or a tank, definitely helps toning it down. I wore mine with a tank top and topped off with a plaid coat.
2) wear velvet any day, everyday sans over-the-top blouses/coordinates to make it more day appropriate.
3) for a more casual appeal, wear sneakers with a jacket atop.
4) when the weather warms up a bit, couple it with your favorite tee and denim jacket.
Mine is a more office-chic, girls-night-out kind of look, but you could definitely make this look yours- just remember the above tips….
