“Blessed is he who has learned to admire but not envy, to follow but not imitate, to praise but not flatter, and to lead but not manipulate.” ― William Arthur Ward
I am a girl who loves her colors, but there are occasions when I just want to just hide behind colors like gray, black and white. Specially on gloomy days, when the temp is almost freezing, all your eyes sees in your closet is darker hues. But your outfit need not be boring when wearing shades like black, brown, grey…. head-to-toe. To make the look less mundane :
- pick out pieces that have texture and feminine details– this pic does not do justice to these silver culottes, which btw has metal weaving running across the inseam. The waist pleats make it all the more fun. Pairing it with the thick knit duster cardigan gives a very modern feel to the two silhouettes.
- don’t try too hard– keep it looking casual coz if you try too hard, you might end up feeling in a rut. The untucked blouse in my look does the trick here. It makes the outfit chic but effortlessly.
- bring out at least one striking piece in the look– in my case there is not one but two notable pieces: first the blue bow heels and second the pink designer bag. Both finish off the look, and give a whole new dimension to the monochromatic look.
- go contrast or go home– to make the look more alluring add a sweep of a contrasting lip shade. Burgundy with grey has always been an eye-catching color combo and this look hits the right note of sexy and classy with the burgundy lipstick.
