With Labor day long gone, it was time you stowed away all your white clothing until next May. But for someone like me, who admonishes this “no white after Lobor day” rule, finds her own formula to stretch the whites for as long as possible. Definitely a head-to-toe white is not happening, but subtle touches of white here and there is doable.
- confine to one white piece– instead of going for an all white summery look, bring some fall to your look with one white focal point. Start building up your outfit around that centerpiece. In my case the culottes are the focal point.
- add prints and textures– one way to offset the starkness of a white clothing item is to pair it with something printed, pattered or embroidered. The embroidered bustier adds so much visual appeal to the my look. Had I gone for a white top, a printed skirt like this one would have been awe-tastic.
- add a third piece– channel some fall into your outfit with a third piece. Make your look fall-appropriate with a trench, a cardigan or even a duster jacket.
- strut your booties or shooties– fall is then time to take your killer booties/shooties out for a spin. I decided to don a pair of gold and black pumps, but these would have fared well too.
