I had to throw on my new mint coat, seen last week on the blog here, coz the wind got me chilling. It might be officially spring, but seems Mother Nature hasn’t received the memo yet. It is a bittersweet truth: but the fact that I can wear my lighter coats one more time, before I bid them farewell until next winter makes me want to give a thumbs up to this transitional weather.
Anyways, this shoulder baring trend is going to be huge this Spring. You would be seeing it everywhere: from dresses, to tops and even light knit sweaters, you bet – there will be no escape whatsoever !!!!
1) The key to wearing this trend is to have the right-fitting undergarment: you definitely don’t want to steal the show from your shoulders by flashing those bra-straps. So go forth and get a good strapless bra and you’ve laid the foundation for this trend.
2) When scouting for an off-the-shoulder option, look for a piece that has elastic on the shoulders and that can be worn multi-ways: as in which can be worn both as a regular top and as a sleeve-shrugging option too. For instance this top I am wearing today: I wore it here as a regular option and today as a shoulder-baring option. That makes the piece all the more versatile and gives more styling options.
3) Since this silhouette tends to give the illusion of a wider shoulder, you definitely want to steer away from loose frumpy bottoms. You don’t want to end up looking like a sack. A well-fitted pair of jeans, a pencil skirt or even some shorts in hotter temps, would be a fail-proof way to rock this trend.
4) Because this trend is all about the shoulders: keep your hair out of the way. A messy top bun or lose curls in a side ponytail would be the idealistic hair-do. Let your shoulders do all the talking here.
5) If you really wish to accessories- a dangly pair of earrings, or a longer necklace or just a string of gold would be nice. You definitely don’t want to overcrowd the top with too much necklace and other jewelry pieces.
Have a great day loves. For more of my musings follow me @
