The cape trend enjoyed a fair share of limelight last year, both on runway and real way and continues to be a popular trend this year as well. I personally love how easy and wearable this trend is. Owing to it’s on the baggier-side fit, most body types can rock this silhouette.
As a blogger with the advantage of access to two readily distinguishable fashion cultures- Western and Indian, I get to enjoy the best of these two worlds. On one hand Western runway witnessed pieces like cape jackets/blazers, cape dresses and cape tops, the Indian front bore a more dramatic version of the same. There was volume, movement and colorful intricate embroidery. Like this cape dress that you see on me today is a more over-the-top Indian interpretation of a Western cape jacket.
A cape dress like this translates well as a dress over a pair of leggings, and as a top under a maxi skirt or ever over a pair of wide leg pants. Had there been less embroidery, I would have worn a vest atop, but overall I am loving this #Cape Trend and would continue to embrace this for as long as my sartorial wit allows me.
