1) GO MONOCHROMATIC– pick out one pastel shade and create your look around that. Choosing one color simplifies the thought process and makes the look more cohesive. Make a concoction of pieces that are more cooler weather appropriate- like the cardigan and the scarf in my outfit. The cardigan here instantly transforms the white-denim-gray-top look into fall. In my case the color of choice was gray and most of the pieces in this look are in the same wavelength.
2) ADD A POP OF COLOR – creating visual interest is the key and color-blocking always works its magic. Choose one element in your outfit that contrasts with the rest of your look. I chose an orange bag, which I believe was the ideal pairing with my gray outfit here. The orange bag definitely elevates the grayscael here.
3) ADD DRAMA WITH DETAILS – when going monochromatic, eye-catching details help keep monotony at bay. The pictures here don’t do justice- but the gold knit on my cardigan is the ice breaker. In my case I chose not one but several visual details – the fringe heels, the striped scarf, the ruching on my jeans and the studded bracelet, to name a few. Overall, these details make this look everything but boring.
These are some of my tips fore donning pastel in fall, do you have any that you would like to share???
