October marks the beginning of festivities in India. With the onset of this month, the festive-verve amongst Indians elevates to a whole different level, and this fervor is worth witnessing. The enthusiasm, the aura, the energy- is just spectacular.
Growing up, I remember how my mom would mark the calendar for festivities around this time of the year: with Navratri being the first, then Diwali, then Bhai Dooj, then Karva Chauth and a few lot more in between. As kids, for us, all this meant good food, scrumptious desserts, cousins and visitors and whole lot of shopping. Honestly, when little: store-hopping appealed more to us than the rituals, coz (1) we never had the patience to sit through all these rituals and (2) we never really delved into knowing more about the origin of these religious hullabaloo. But as we grew: we got more cognizant of our religion and all the religion-related festivities. I am glad this happened, coz today being a mom myself, living in a foreign land- it is key that my daughter understands of her’s and our’s roots. With no close family here, it does become an exposure-issue but over the years we’ve figured out ways for her to learn about our religion and upbringing: as much as possible we try narrating mythological stories to her, saying our prayers and daily worship is highly encouraged and we make all possible efforts to celebrate the major festivals with the same fervor as back home.
Having said that: shopping for new things around this time, both for the house and ourselves, still remains a significant part of the to-do list of these celebrations. I would buy things for the house and the kiddo and the hubby, but didn’t really care much for myself. Possibly because I keep buying new things for self, every now and then ….wink wink ! But this time when I was approached by Sareez.com for this potential collaboration, I knew it was time for a change. There was no way I could say not to it, and honestly there are no regrets so far. I couldn’t have been more impressed with their service, quality and timeliness.
As the name would suggest: Sareez.com is one of the largest and the most recognized online stores for Indian ethnic wears. Founded in 1995, Sareez.com today, has emerged as a globally-loved and preferred provider of a variety of Indian ethnic attires including Sarees, Salwar Kameez, Lehengas, Sherwani, Kaftans and more. They are based out of Kolkata, West Bengal, India.
When Sareez.com contacted me last month – I was super excited at first but as much as I thought into it, my skepticism about the quality and blouse-fitting surmounted. Despite all the inhibitions in my mind, I reluctantly picked out a sari and forwarded my measurements and design pictures for my blouse: which they were customizing to order. I had mixed feelings when the package was delivered, exactly a week after placing the order. The package included the sari, the blouse and a matching skirt. But the minute I tried on the blouse and draped the sari around me, I was speechless. The quality and craftsmanship of both the sari and the blouse were just impeccable. The blouse fit to a tee and turned out exactly the way I had requested. I felt so beautiful and close to my tradition. It was a moment of nostalgia and I really missed being home.
Thanks to Sareez.com for making my festivity season so special. I would totally recommend it to anyone- and my video is a definitely a validation to my support-statement.
