The National Cherry Blossom Festival of Washington DC marks not only the beginning of spring but also the onset of springtime celebrations and festivities. The blooming period to the peak bloom lasts for about 25-27 days, contingent on the frost and temperature conditions. This year the peak bloom will be between the April 4th and 6th.
This time around, DC gets livelier, with visitors flocking from all around the world. Not a single day during the one month period goes without special events or private parties. Last weekend was no exception, enthusiasts joined in at the National Mall to test their stunts and skills at Kite flying. Yes you hear it right- we celebrated the NATIONAL MALL KITE FESTIVAL last weekend. The weather and the breeze couldn’t have been any better for kite flying. It was my 3rd time around and Ribhya’s 2nd.
The Kite Festival is one of the most popular annual events in Washington DC and features kite fliers from across the U.S. and the world. This year like other times, there were kites of all varieties, shapes and colors . I had a fun time taking pictures of some of the interesting ones in the vast sea of kites in the sky. So today is a picture heavy post with a preview of what I wore that day, coming tomorrow.
The entire time I was reminiscing of the good, fun days of me growing up flying kite in summers. We never needed any special day for kite flying, all we needed was one person to hold the kite reel spool and another to compete with and it would go on for hours…..*sigh* . Long gone are those days !!!!!! Now it is Ribhya’s turn to make her memory diaries.
What do you say ????????
Thanks for stopping by
